Story

In Beast Fang Ridge, several Flameruffs · The Mighty gather at Thousand-Fang Ridge during the day, hoping to win a duel and earn the chance to become Scorchhowl.

From the Emberpup chatter, you learn that only the strongest Scorchhowl can earn the name "Icho." Many elite Flameruffs have gathered at Thousand-Fang Ridge. Maybe they want to become the next Icho, or maybe they want to restore the Ridgeback Tree to the blazing glory it once had.
